This is the official website of the Briggs Project and contains original information gathered by performing on-site mapping, academic, and archival research on a wooden shipwreck called the Alpha Wreck, located on the southern shore of Lake Michigan in Porter County, Indiana, USA. This project is an ongoing effort that has successfully completed its first season of field work in 2006.
Devil’s Punchbowl, the Alpha Wreck Odyssey, is a story based on a theory of how the wooden shipwreck came to be and it’s connection with the past history and efforts of America’s Underground Railroad during the antebellum and Civil War years.
The core group of individuals that formed the Briggs Project Team in 2005 is as follows: |
