On many occasions while doing our research, we have been introduced to historical facts or to people that seemed to come out of nowhere. The information gained from either source always seems to fit another piece of the Alpha Wreck puzzle neatly into place.
Sometimes it would play out like a scene in a movie or like a chapter in a good mystery novel. It has happened many times in the last two years and continues to this day. It has made the project a whole lot more fun to work on, too.
It has almost been two years now since Peg Schoon told us about the Briggs story and we are still as enthusiastic about the project now as we were in the beginning. Maybe even more. It seems the more research we do, the more mystery we uncover. And all the time we are getting closer and closer to finding those answers we are looking for.
Unfortunately, in archaeology, a story such as this cannot be taken for face value; it has to be backed up with solid facts. And that is what this whole project is about now. Finding out those facts.
Thank you Peg, and Mr. Briggs, for sending us on this fantastic journey. |
